Dear Hanneke, dear James,
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I am writing to you today, because my Tiki 30 REGGAE is looking for a fresh pair of hands to keep her going. She´s already an old lady and knows every island in the Ionian archipelago by heart.
All started in the early 1990 when Othmar Karschulin the enthusiast who runs www.multihull.de started to realise his personal dream of an affordable cruiser. Being a designer by profession he spend numerous months to shape a light and ergonomic nacelle. Professionally built by youngbootsbau.de the cat was launched in 1994 and sailed 18 straight seasons, the last 6 years with me.
Now the time has come for a refit, but I just got a job (in the UK, Tutburry) and I don't have the time. Besides my kids are grown up and I want to sail my other boat, a 20 foot mahagoni Jollenkreuzer from 1961...
The Tiki has been cruising until this October, for wintering it is stored on land in Vangelis boat yard in Corfu town, Ionian archipelago, Greece
The boat and its motor, sails and equipment are still functional and ready to cruise for a season or two. In the future following should be done: water infiltrated into two plywood panels on the port hull, they need replacing. I made a temporary repair to prevent further infiltration and to reinforce the soft spot, but don't have the time to repair it properly. Windows should also be changed. The repairs can be carried out DIY in the yard. The cat is placed is two metres from the sea shore, from the boat you look on the sea as if you are already in the water.
The only other owner and his wife are motivated to continue the partnership as it halves cost and time requiered. They are a professional couple in their early fifties, live in Frankfurt, Germany. We share the boat since 2008, the boat was sailed every summer for about 8 weeks. The only catch is that Niels has the right to aquire the remaining share himself, if he doesn't like the prospective new owner. I already offered him my share for free, but he wants to find a new partner, which I should find.
Annual fixed cost for wintering and liability insurance is only 850 EUROs per partner. Add to this some money for paint, spares and replacing equipment as desired.
This is an inexpensive and low-risk way to familiarise with budget-boating.

Dear Mr Wharram & Ms Boon;
I have a story to tell.Twenty years ago, in 1992, my late partner, Fred Prussing, built us our Tiki 26 in Coromandel, New Zealand.(she took 9 months, like a baby) We made passage to Fiji and in 1994 we imported her to Fiji. Sadly in 1995, while cleaning her bottom my sweetheart had a stroke and died (at Musket Cove). The following year you made your first trip to Fiji and commented on how beautifully built our "Kitten" was. I was so sad when I heard this as Fred would have been thrilled by this.
Since then I have visited as often as I can, given that I live in Canada. Each time I visit, dear "Kitten" has deteriorated further. What I'd like to ask is do you know of anyone who would be prepared to take on her resurrection, here in Fiji in return for being able to sail her in Fiji waters, which as you know, are delightful. I am now 76 years old and was the navigator, not the sailor.
I need to know, before all, do you feel that a wooden boat of this age IS salvageable at all and if so can you help me find that very special person I seek-I could pay some money toward materials. This is a shot in the dark as I must return to Canada, leaving Fiji on October 27th. If I walk away from her in this state she will definitely be doomed. The resort owners, who have let me keep her here at Musket Cove since Fred's death, now would like to pull her out of the water after I leave-would she not be better off in the water? (barnacles and all) Sadly the resort owner, Dick Smith, died at the end of July, after a long illness.
When "Kitten" was damaged by hurricane Gavin in 1997 I contacted Hanneke Boon, who very kindly sent the specs for her damaged hatch cover, which a friend replaced.
Sorry for all the detail-I can supply pictures of the damage if you need this to make a decision-she is extremely sound below decks and I hate to give up on her.
Wharram lovers are a very special group so I thought I would go straight to the source, as Fred was such a huge admirer of your designs
Thank you for your indulgence (I'm using a dear friend's computer).

We are thinking of taking our Tiki 30 to the Abacus and making her available for charter. We have a charter operator there who is interested in working with us and we are trying to determine how much interest there is in chartering this boat.
Please let us know if you would be interested in bareboat chartering this boat in 2010 and we will keep you informed of the boat's availability.
Thanks!

I'm sailing my Pahi 42 from St.Maarten to Holland arriving end June 2008.
In Holland I need a place to moor her, for here the marinas are not cheap, so maybe there is a Wharram sailor with information about a docking space. I am heading for Ijmuiden so the northern part off Holland is where I would be looking.
Best regarts

My Tiki 21 (#97, launched in Canada in 1998, relaunched in Ghana 2001) has been waiting for some care and attention for five years. Perhaps someone out there would like to come to her rescue, in exchange for a room at our beach resort ( www.africanrainbowresort.com) located on one of the best beaches on the coast of Ghana. The biggest job is the rudders and skegs which need to be replaced. For more details and photos of the boat, contact Rod McLaren at nkosuohene@gmail.com.
